Overview

Baba Hur Turkish Food, nestled in Plaza Damas along Jalan Sri Hartamas in Kuala Lumpur, offers a fresh yet authentic taste of Turkish cuisine in a casual setup. The restaurant’s atmosphere blends a no-frills, slightly old-school diner vibe with an open kitchen, allowing diners to witness their meals being prepared to order. This transparency adds a layer of trust and a sense of connection to the food, something that resonates well with families and local patrons seeking both comfort and quality.

The menu showcases hearty Turkish classics with a modern twist. Standouts include their Tombik—a generously filled Turkish burger with soft bun options and customizable fillings like cheese and chicken—which has quickly become a crowd favorite. The Turkish Doner Lamb Wrap impresses with tender, well-spiced meat balanced by fresh vegetables, although some might find it benefits from dips or sauces to heighten moisture and flavor. Another must-try is their Lahmacun, often described as a thin-crust lamb "pizza" that surprises with its generous portion and well-rounded spicing that complements without overpowering.

For those craving kebabs, Baba Hur offers a spectrum—from the classic Iskender Kebab to the mixed chicken and lamb kebabs, each prepared with freshness that highlights authentic Turkish herbs and spices. While the flavors lean towards the wholesome and healthy side, they occasionally lack a memorable punch, which some seasoned kebab enthusiasts might notice. The Baklava stands as a testament to Turkish dessert tradition, offering a sweet end to a robust meal.

The dining experience here caters mainly to a diverse crowd ranging from middle-aged families seeking a quiet lunch to casual food lovers exploring Turkish fare beyond the usual fast-food renditions. Service is attentive and friendly, with a genuine warmth from the Turkish owner and supportive staff, predominantly Filipino, who work efficiently despite the made-to-order pace that asks for a bit of patience from guests.

While the restaurant leans away from the fast-food feel of competitors, it makes up in authenticity and portion generosity. The space feels welcoming but simple, focusing more on the culinary experience than on lofty interior design. Drinks such as the homemade lemonade receive mixed feedback, noted for authenticity yet often considered pricey compared to the meal.

Overall, Baba Hur Turkish Food is a solid choice for those craving traditional Turkish flavors in KL’s Sri Hartamas neighborhood. It invites repeat visits from patrons who appreciate honest cooking, ample portions, and a relaxed dining environment, making it a worthy stop for both regular locals and curious visitors alike.

It's our first time here. We ordered lahmacun (thin crust pizza with lamb). It's delicious and comes with 2 big slices. The VIP fries mixed is filling with generous portion of fries with lamb & chicken meat as well a salad. The price is reasonable and food is good.

We had the wrap and lahmacun. Enjoy the food. The meat are all tender and not dry. The spices use does not overwhelm and gives a very complimentary flavour to the meat. The lahmacun is a must order. We initially thought it was one piece but it actually comes in two pieces

A new Turkish Restaurant in the area. So far I've tried the wrap. I feel it's a little dry. Probably good if it comes with some dipping garlic sauce. The fries is okay. The Tombik burger is my favourite. portion is huge. The bun is good too. I ordered the cheese version and add-on chicken meat. The setup looks like a fast food joint, but the food is made to order, so you need to wait a while for it to be prepared. Will be back to try their signatures.

Came by for a quiet Sunday lunch. The place was half full — filled with middle aged families. The owner is Turkish and the remaining staff are Filipino. Quite friendly and prompt, and you can see them preparing your food right behind the counter. We had the chicken kebab and mixed (chicken + lamb) kebab. Burger seemed interesting but the ingredients were all the same as the kebabs, so we opted out. Between both, the mixed kebab was more flavourful. Also, I recommend having 2 or more sauces, as we tried the chicken with just garlic and it was rather dry. On the other hand, our mixed kebab with garlic + hot sauce was more enjoyable. Taste wise, it’s pretty nice but no special wow factor. Saw lots of people praising the lemonade so we tried it, but it’s on the pricey side and tasted somewhat cordial-based. Wouldn’t get that again. All in all, the kebabs were just enough. Doesn’t appease your appetite 100% full. One winning edge it has over the other Turkish restaurants out there is it tastes more healthy/authentic. Otherwise, it’s more expensive and less “fast food” tasting than those out there such as Stu**d. Would I come back? Maybe just when passing by, but it’s not memorable enough to look for specifically.

Looks like a very old school diner, clean and comfortable. The lamb wrap was really good, generous with the beef and vegetable. The cheese vegetarian burger was yummy too, generous amount of cheese and vegetable too however found the bun too huge! I cldnt finish it. Will definitely come back again. The owner and also the chef is friendly and nice. Wish to have more vegetarian varieties too.

Hands down one of the best Turkish restaurant in Malaysia! We ordered the signature iskender kebab as well as the lamb doner rice pilaf. The rice was super savoury, and paired well with the garlic sauce and kebab meat. The salad was also super fresh. The iskender kebab consist of yoghurt, tomato-based sauce, bite size pieces of break, roasted chili-thing as well as the meat; all blended to perfection! Honestly, even as a person that is not a fan of some of the individual ingredients, had to admit it's really nice. Overall would definitely recommend coming here. It's a great alternative if you're not able to travel to Turkey.

Food was SO great! We had the wraps. They really pack them to the brim! So much meat and veggies. They also give LOTS of fries if you get the combo, and they were so crispy. Really enjoyed my meal. 10/10 recommend
